Monday Moanin Thoughts #66 Lead Like Your Mom

Today was not a great weather day in Michigan , and yet it was still a beautiful day as we celebrated a wonderful Mother’s day. I can’t help but think on this Monday Moanin that we need to lead like our Mom’s. Every one of us can think of how our mom’s have influenced us as people and leaders. When I think of my mom, I am filled with many examples of how she influenced my leadership over the years and  she still influences me  to this day.

If I applied more of my mom’s qualities in my life, I would  be more productive and successful. My mother is a person who, at 90, still encourages me to do well. She compliments me and is a bucket filler. She is direct and  tells you what she thinks – once – then moves on. She is interested in my life and she listens and likes to converse. She has a rock solid faith and is an eternal optimist. She sees the good in all people. She has always let me and my brothers try things and encourages us to choose our own path and find our way. These are only some of her wonderful qualities.

I am guessing that as you reflect on the gifts of your mom, your list may be similar. So why not lead like your mom as the school year ends.   Make a commitment to emulate all of your mother’s best qualities. I am going to work to apply all of the bolded words above, and I am confident that if I do, I will be a better person and leader as a result. I encourage you  to do the same!

Have a great week and keep finding the good stuff.

Quote of the week: “I think our job as parents is to give our kids roots to grow and wings to fly.”
