Monday Moanin Thoughts #33 HLG Planning Summit 2012 Review

Hello everyone. We have  reached August and now the real timely and critical planning begins for the 2012-13 school year. During this past week many educators began to do just that. Fifty-two instructional leaders from nine districts, twenty  two schools, made up of superintendents, curriculum directors, principals, assistant principals, and teacher leaders attended the Hickey Leadership Group planning summit at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan.

The purpose was to plan and focus on the important planning needed to begin a successful year. After a day of work everyone worked hard to achieve that goal.

Highlights and feedback from the HLG Planning Summit include the following comments, messages, and observations:

The message of  hope,  passion, action, courage, and vision from Dr. Dave Richards Superintendent Fraser Public Schools and Paul DeAngelis Deputy Superintendent Birmingham Public Schools.

Be positive and provide a clear vision for your staff.

Courage is an Action!

“Awesome opportunity to connect with my colleagues with the freedom to address our specific needs.”

” It is important to focus on individual staff needs and take the time to identify those needs to revisit throughout the school year.”

” Fantastic! Learned a great deal more about Title 1- new to my school by networking.”

” Always find ways to be positive with colleagues and that we are each others best resources. Collaboration is the key to success.”

” Most productive meeting I’ve ever attended. Speakers, facility, food were all top notch. The start of the year will be much smoother.”

The first Summit was very successful because of the commitment of the participants. They are all off to a great start , how about you? It is time to get to work!

Quote of the week:

” Leadership is not just about what you do, but what you can inspire, encourage, and empower others to do.” Daniel Decker
