Monday Moanin Thoughts #262 Are You Effective As A Leader? Try These!

Happy July 2017 Monday Moanin to all of you. Hopefully your pace is slowing a bit and you are enjoying the wonderful summer weather. My topic for today’s MMT is to focusing on a few things to improve your effectiveness as a leader.  During the past week I have been reading several articles on leadership that served as a great prompt in writing this blog. How do you want to enhance your leadership? Try focusing on these things. 

Be more of a leader not a boss. maybe a builder. It is easy to tell staff members what to do it is more difficult to inspire and influence others to collaborate and work together. In fact Robyn Jackson writes about the differences between a boss, leader, and a builder. She writes that builders say “Come” instead of “Let’s Go” and “Invites”  others instead of “Asking” them.

Another focus area is to remove all distractions when you are meeting with stakeholders. Put the phone away and don’t glance at any screen during these times. The bottom line, Pay Attention.

Finally, talk less. Enough said.
