Monday Moanin Thoughts #168 Connectors For Planning Summit 2015
Welcome to a warm, wonderful Michigan Monday Moanin to all of you. Later this week I will be hosting 95 educators from the Tri-county area of Detroit at the 4th Annual Hickey Leadership Group Planning Summit. The Summit is for leaders from individual schools and districts to work on their plans for the upcoming 2015-16 school year. As I was preparing for the opening activity I considered many strategies and options. I ended up with two openers listed below. Consider giving them a try as you open your year.
Dr. Tim Elmore in Habitudes #3 defines the difference between a river and a flood. They are both bodies of water. Floods damage. Rivers are useful in many ways. The difference? Focus. Leaders must channel people, time and money toward one focused vision. As you reflect on these differences, ask yourself and your team members these two questions :
How are you going to be more like a river in 2015-16? How is your organization going to be more like a river in 2015-16?
Dan Rockwell @Leadershipfreak posted two-word examples that will help with focus and moving an agenda forward. Reflect on these words individually then as a group. Where are you heading?
- Why wait?
- What’s next?
- What else?
- Do it.
I hope all of you have a productive week and those attending the Summit have a successful day of planning. I hope these openers serve as a great prompt as you begin your work. Be well and keep finding the good stuff.
