Monday Moanin Thoughts #144 Good Time To Focus On Highlights

Hello everyone and welcome to the Super Bowl 2015  snowy weekend edition of Monday Moanin Thoughts.  Over the last month  I have met with several building and district administrators to discuss their work.  The meetings are rich and reflective and upon my own reflection, one common theme has emerged. Most administrators are very good at identifying the challenges of their job. However, when the conversation shifts towards discussing their highlights, there is caution and a reluctance  to share . Why is it that challenges are easy to discuss and highlights are a struggle?  Challenges may push leaders into a anxious, urgent frame of mind. This can turn quickly into negativity. Leaders must  fight negativity and be intentional providing positive energy and hope to their  organization. One doable way is to begin focusing on what is going well. Share and celebrate your successes consistently with your community. Keep reaching out, telling your story with pride and humility.
