Hello everyone and welcome to the latest edition of Monday Moanin Thoughts. Over the first seven weeks of the 2013-14 school year, I have met with several building administrators to discuss their work. I consistently come away with many impressions. As a result, one common theme has emerged. Most administrators are very good at identifying the challenges of their job. However, when the conversation shifts towards discussing their highlights, there is caution and a reluctance to share . Why is it that challenges are easy to discuss and highlights are a struggle? Could it be that challenges tend to be more urgent? Challenges tend to drain energy and it can push leaders into a negative frame of mind about how difficult their issues can be. No organization needs a leader throwing a pity party for themselves. They need to fight negativity and make a commitment to provide positive ENERGY to their performance and organization.
