Monday Moanin Thoughts #141 Be More Productive This Week

Welcome to the second Monday Moanin of 2015. This week I want share with you a few strategies to help enhance your practice. The challenges of your job is great and working in a school lends itself to being more reactive than proactive. Try using some of the following.

First consider conducting daily huddles or checkins. Rebecca Doepke with Culture Change Agent in Milwaukee, Wisconsin defines them as;

“Daily huddles should give energy, not take it, they need to be part of your culture, something you do every day. Daily huddles, however, do not take the place of your weekly meeting. The purpose of a daily huddle is to

  • Start the day the right way
  • Support your environment
  • Focus
  • Reinforce teamwork
  • Communicate with each other quickly .”

Second, determine and set the ending time of your workday.  letsconnect@plash.in  shares ; “End your working day at a fixed time. Don’t let work creep to fill your entire evening. You can also have two finishing times. One for an ideal day, and one latest time that you won’t work past.”

Many leaders use the fixed time strategy and they set 30 minutes before that time to close their door and get targeted work done. Some examples include setting up their next day, answering and cleaning up emails, returning calls, and making positive phone calls to students and their families. Those 30 minutes can provide great momentum for the next day.

Finally, plan for your vision or passion- write a list of three things that are most important that reinforces your passion and make it a priority to accomplish them. Don’t procrastinate or get distracted, get to work.

Have a great week and keep finding the good stuff.
