Monday Moanin Thoughts # 111 Celebrate Memorial Day By Practicing Gratitude

Happy Memorial Day 2014 Monday Moanin to all of you. When I think of Memorial Days celebrated in the past, I am reminded of  two common themes. One is service and the other is gratitude. For today’s thoughts, I will focus on gratitude. As I reflect on this day , I am filled with gratitude and awe for all of the men and women that serve on our behalf to ensure the freedom we enjoy. I also think of my grandfather’s and dad’s generations and the sacrifices they made during the World Wars to keep us safe and free. The level of their sacrifices are overwhelming and hard to fathom. I often ask myself what can I do in my role during this time of year to honor them. One thing I can do is reach out to others in my professional and personal life. This is a great week for all of us to think of others and practice gratitude. Make a commitment to seek out ten people and thank them for who they are and what they do. It can be students, staff members, community members, or family. This small act is a powerful way to appreciate one another.

So as another school year is coming to an end, finish strong by honoring others by validating their talents, hard work and skills.

Have a great week and keep finding the good stuff. #finishstrong
